Vidas Femininas

Founded in 1991, Museu da Pessoa (Museum of the Person) believes that by telling, listening, acknowledging and preserving life stories it is possible to see the world with different eyes. It is a collaborative and virtual museum open for everyone to join in and participate. You can discover the diversity of stories that make up the brazilian population, as well as share your own.

Challenge

The project Vidas Femininas (Women’s Lives) is a virtual exhibition born in 2021. It showcases stories, pictures and audiovisual productions starring women. Megalo was invited to structure this cultural project by creating a website that put together narratives that inspire by their strength, creativity, sensibility and resilience.

Solution

We created an atmosphere that uses the exhibition’s visual identity in order to structure a website that enables an intuitive, practical and inclusive browsing experience.

What we did

Design
Website

We organized the collection under three segments: Feelings, Themes and Wheel of Time, and then created different graphic personalities for each one of them. We also ensured that the transition within the content could be fluid and organic.

Stories for everyone

Keyboard navigation

In order to promote an accessible experience to the exhibition we made it possible to browse the collection on the keyboard, dismissing the need for extra software. The animations don’t require the cursor’s activation for a better use by people with motor limitations.

Screen reader and Sign Language plugin

The Hand Talk plugin helped us share the content in sign language as well. Another browsing possibility was to use the screen reader tool for people with visual impairment.

Text and contrast

Text sizes and color contrast also helped us make the stories shared on this project reach everyone.
