UNO Brand Evolution

UNOi is a project for educational transformation whose teaching method is built upon the Maker Culture. Currently, it forms a network reaching over 400 schools and more than 130 thousand students.

With the belief on the importance of getting your hands on and innovating to meet the standards of educational needs and abilities for the contemporary world, this project promotes a structural change within the schools, converging the education principles of the 21st century with the most advanced knowledge there is in pedagogy, technology, content, bilingual education, evaluation and continuing education of the teaching staff.

Megalo was commissioned to conceptualize and develop a year-long 3 stage project: introduce UNOi to managers, teachers and schools; create a reenrollment and an institutional campaign. The first step was to reinforce Maker Culture concept and enhance the brand’s visual communication with its main features.

Type Maker

Type Maker is a 3D font that we developed to contextualize the Maker Culture and associate it to UNOi. This font incorporates elements found in the project’s creative shops, forming letters that symbolize the power of creation in the message. By doing so, we visually translated the idea that getting hands on and creating are essential learning processes – a key point for the methodology.

Evolution at its core

The starting point was understanding the concept that would guide the campaigns and artwork throughout 2018. The word evolution was chosen to represent the innovations in their teaching methods and served as the cornerstone for the project.

The first piece was developed to present, and visually represent, UNOi’s inventive methodology and all of its features, values, goals and educational pillars to partner schools’ deans, principals and managers. In order to do so we created a book that challenged the school to answer what kind of student they wanted to graduate and to promote the concept of evolution in the campaign.

To value the project further, we developed a portable projector made out of cardboard pieces that could be adapted to any cellphone. This souvenir encourages the idea that you can make great things with any material you have by getting hands on the project.

Reenrollment Campaign

Every year UNOi creates a campaign during the reenrollment period in partner schools. The goal is to boost and support actions for student acquisition and retention, focusing on the families and the students to register into the school.

Partner Schools

UNOi’s teaching methods needed to be approached in the campaign in order to engage parents, students and schools, as well as to reinforce brand positioning both inside and outside partner schools.

So, the artwork we created depicted a learning environment that reaches out beyond the classroom, where students are prepared to go through different experiences that become valuable lessons. The material we prepared to be used within the school walls ranged from big wall stickers to a Family Guide, for students and families, that outlined how UNOi works. We also prepared Newsletters, Instagram and Facebook posts, banners, magazine ads, outdoors, flyers and other promotional artwork to be displayed outside the school environment.

Institutional campaign

It was also needed to apply the Maker Culture to the institutional channels to promote UNOi outside school walls, creating unity both in their looks as well as in their message. To do so, we created digital artwork, such as social media posts and Newsletters, based on the Type Makers.
