Bicentennial of Independence

Designed to be a monument commemorating the Proclamation of Independence of Brazil, the Ipiranga Museum (Museu do Ipiranga) is an institution specialized in history and cultural material, boasting a collection of about 450,000 items and documents.

To celebrate the bicentennial of Independence, the museum underwent a significant restoration after being closed for nearly a decade and reopened its doors in September 2022 for a new era, with its facilities fully modernized.

Among the partners involved in the Museum’s reopening process, we were responsible for expanding the new visual identity in the design of printed materials, which are divided into 3 areas of focus: Institutional, Research, and Educational. In addition to the catalogs that complement each exhibition, we developed educational materials specifically for school groups and visitor support materials.

RESEARCH AXIS

In the research axis, we developed the catalogs that complement and delve deeper into the themes of each exhibition, gathering texts from the curators that explain the design process and the research lines involved in each exhibition. The exhibitions are: Independence Memories, The City from Above, Understanding the Museum, A History of Brazil, Imagined Pasts, Worlds of Labor, Houses and Things, Territories in Dispute, and Curatorial Cycle.

INSTITUTIONAL AXIS

In addition to the materials presented at the reopening, we developed the verbal language guidelines and visitor support pieces.

EDUCATIONAL AXIS

The educational materials were developed specifically for schools. The booklets, richly illustrated and in easy-to-understand language, offer activities and details about the proposals of each exhibition.
